Mealtimes and Swallowing:

Eating and drinking can be uncomfortable and even dangerous for a person with dysphagia (swallowing difficulties).

If unmanaged, dysphagia can be life-threatening as it can result in complications such as choking, poor nutrition, dehydration and aspiration pneumonia.

Our Speech Pathologists provide support to ensure that mealtimes are safe and enjoyable for adults with swallowing difficulties.

Our Speech Pathologists will also work alongside other allied health professionals such as dietitians to achieve a safe and enjoyable environment for eating and drinking.
